Cathtect Engineering (Pty) Ltd is a dynamic company which provides needs-based solutions and products to the Cathodic Protection Industry, both locally and internationally.

Cathodic Protection is a process, (outside of coatings & paints), utilized to protect buried and submerged steel structures from corroding. Corrosion is defined as “the destruction or deterioration of a material, usually a metal that results from a reaction with its environment” (National Association of Corrosion Engineers).

The Cathodic Protection industry traditionally views mitigation of corrosion on long cross-country metal pipelines as requiring Impressed Cathodic Protection, applied at strategic and researched points along the pipeline, as the general mitigation method, due to the enormous stray current phenomenon in South Africa.
